Get to know Abbey Monreal

Abbey Monreal is a composer, musician, and educator originally from Milwaukee, WI. She recently graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Music Education and a certificate in Fine Arts administration from the University of Wisconsin- Eau Claire. Abbey has been singing in a choir since she was in 4th Grade and has been performing in a variety of settings ever since. She has performed in various vocal ensembles and theatre productions. Additionally, she started taking private voice and piano lessons in high school, which only furthered her love for music. Abbey has been in a wide variety of performing groups from chamber choirs to contemporary pop a capella groups. Currently, she sings with the Cantate Chamber Singers in the Washington, DC area.

Abbey is also an avid composer. Abbey has has original compositions performed across the United States. Additionally, Abbey has won several composition contests. Some of her awards include 1st place in the 2020 MC3 Emerging Composers Competition, 2nd place in the choral division of the 2022 Metropolitan Youth Orchestra's Emerging Composer's Competition, and was selected for performance for the 2017 Women Composers Festival of Hartford, Connecticut. 

She is so excited to start her career with Music and Arts, where she can continue to spread her passion for music! Most importantly, Abbey hopes to help new and experienced musicians on their musical journey!
