Teaching Philosophy: A successful musician is built up by performances. Performance is the most crucial factor for motivating musicians to keep moving forward and gaining self-confidence. Encouraging students always to learn new repertoire and performing them is the most essential approach to achieving this goal. At the same time, I require my students to practice fundamentals such as long tones, overtones, scales, articulation, and etudes daily to improve our technique and enhance our ability to perform in public.

Get to know Dr. Cehuai Zhang

Dr. Cehuai Zhang is a saxophonist and saxophone educator. He received his DMA in saxophone performance with a related field in performing arts health from the University of North Texas in 2023. He finished his Bachelor of Arts degree in saxophone pedagogy at the Shenyang Conservatory of Music, China, and his Master of Music degree in saxophone performance from the University of Northern Iowa. He has performed at various national and international conferences, such as the North America Saxophone Alliance Biennial Conference, the Asia Saxophone Congress, and UNT Alumni Day. During his time at UNT, Cehuai served as a saxophone teaching fellow for three years and conducted several research studies focusing on the physical and psychosocial medical problems of saxophonists. Cehuai is currently a saxophone teacher who provides private lessons throughout the DFW area.
