About Charles R

Hello and welcome to our store. Music and especially the band has always been my passion.  I came to Virginia Beach in 1972 as a student at the Armed Forces School of Music. After graduation I was offered a staff position and stayed at the School as a staff member and eventually Chief, Instrumental Issue/Repair Division before taking an assignment with the 6th Infantry Division (Light) Band in Alaska as Brass Group Leader. Tuba is my instrument. 

I retired at Fort Monroe in 1991 from the U.S. Army and went to work for the Center of Music, Inc. in Portsmouth, VA as the Band Instrument Service Manager and completed my B.A. in Business Administration in 1995.  In 1998 I took on a new job at Mars Music, Inc. as the Band/Orchestra Dept. Manager and soon afterward became the Store Sales Manager and then General Manager.

I have been with Music and Arts for 21 years and have managed the Chesapeake and Kempsville stores.
