About Colin Parlett
Get to know Colin Parlett
Colin has been playing trumpet for more than fifteen years
now (since 2007) and has beginner-level experience in nearly every instrument
thanks to his time in Towson University’s music education program (Class of
2023). He has studied trumpet under Bill Sturgis (current band director at
Archbishop Spalding High School) and Dr. Dave Ballou (jazz trumpet professor at
Towson University).
Currently, Colin is performing in the Baltimore Gamer
Symphony Orchestra, a group dedicated to performing video game music in a live
orchestral setting. He is also singing in the Sacred Heart Church Contemporary
Choir with his father (who has led the group for 40 years).
He has experience in concert band, jazz band, marching band, symphonic band, and even theater/pit band settings. Colin is expecting to graduate this fall with a Bachelor of Science in Music. His thesis paper on the music of early video games is in the process of being published in an academic journal.
