At the heart of everything musical lives a quiet desire to learn, to listen, and to love. That desire continues to shape how I show up in the world, how I grow, how I teach, and how I understand others. Music has never been separate from who I am; it has been woven into my early childhood, teaching me its impactful influence to reach minds and hearts across every age and background.
Raised in a home filled with blues, spirituals, and acoustic guitar, my musical foundation was nurtured by both family and faith. Those Christian roots, paired with constant exposure to sound and song, cultivated a deep respect for music not just as art, but as connection. Over time, my appreciation for a wide range of instruments, techniques, and genres grew, shaping my taste into something eclectic and ever evolving.
My passion for teaching is inseparable from my willingness to learn. The more I listen to others, learning about their instruments, their styles, their musical languages, the more I’m able to support and guide those who are just beginning. Playing alongside my brother, a saxophonist, taught me the true importance of harmony; not just in sound, but in collaboration, balance, and shared intention.
Beyond performance and instruction, I write poetry and songs simply for the joy of it. To me, music is an offering of oneself. It asks for vulnerability and rewards it with courage. It exposes who you are, inviting the world to listen.
Music is more than bells, strings, and reeds. It is a living community. One that grows through love, support, and the willingness to learn, to listen, and to love. And at its heart, that is where I remain.
