      Get to know Jarred Dunlap

      Jarred Dunlap was born in New Orleans, LA and moved to the Carolinas as an infant. He grew up mostly in the Rock Hill, SC area and started playing piano at the age of 8 with his Godmother, Marjorie Hood as his teacher. At age 11, he started 6th grade band at Sullivan Middle School under Bruce Stevenson. From there he attended Northwestern High School and marched in the Purple Regiment under Dr. Benjamin Ferguson and Mr. Larry Wells. Jarred continued playing in college at Clemson University for two years under Dr Mark Hosler for Tiger Band and Dr. Mark Goldstein in the Clemson Symphonic Band. After year two, Jarred transferred to Winthrop University to study music full time and was under the instruction of Dr. Martin Hughes for Trombone studies, Dr. William Milambri for Symphonic Band, Dr Phil Thompson for Jazz Band, and Dr LH Dickert for Winthrop pep band. He completed his studies at Winthrop University in May of 2004. Jarred has always had a link to music and has performed in many different ensembles in the greater Charlotte, NC area. His passion is spreading his love and enthusiasm for all genres of music and supporting music education for people of all ages.
