About John M
Get to know John M
I have been a musician for as long as I can remember, from the age of 3 when I began taking music lessons. My first instrument was the violin, however I switched to clarinet when I attended middle school. From there I switched again to the saxophone, and finally to the flute in high school. Flute became my passion as I decided to pursue my degree in Flute Performance at George Mason University, where I received my Bachelors of Music Degree in May of 2018.
During my time at George Mason University I studied with Julianna Nickel, substitute flutist with the National Symphony along with additional lessons from Jenny Lapple. I was involved in the George Mason flute choir, which performed at the Midatlantic flute convention in 2017. I was also principal flutist and piccoloist of the George Mason Symphonic band, and principal piccolo for the George Mason Symphony Orchestra for two years. In addition I have performed in masterclass for Laurie Sokoloff, Alice Kogan-Weinreb, and Sarah Frisof.
I am very excited to be a part of the Music& Arts team, the same company that I received my first instruments from. It is very important to me to be a part of a company that helps so many musicians begin and continue on the musical path.
