      Get to know Jonica Tarver

My name is Jonica Tarver, and I’m one of the sales associates here at Music & Arts. I’m currently studying music performance at a local community college, specializing in jazz and classical music, and playing electric bass and guitar. I also have an extensive background with woodwind and brass instruments, as well as some knowledge about orchestral string instruments. I’m currently playing with my college’s jazz band and guitar ensemble. Outside of school, I play the bass in an alternative band with some other local musicians.

I’ve been playing music for over 11 years now, and attribute quite a bit of my development as a musician to school programs, and the Music & Arts company. I’ve been coming to these stores for musical supplies, books, and lessons since I was in junior high, and it’s an honor to be a part of the team here.

Some of my musical inspirations are Hiatus Kaiyote, Alfa Mist, Esperanza Spalding, Victor Wooten, Steve Lacy, Monte Booker, Robert Glasper, Roy Ayers, Polyphia, Jim Hall, Thundercat, Ella Fitzgerald, and Grant Green.

If you ever have any questions about music, performance, musical education, or lessons, feel free to stop by the store anytime during business hours, and I’ll see what I can do to help you out!
