About Mary S

Hi, my name is Mary. I am a vocalist, and I also play piano. I completed my Bachelor's in Music Performance at Shepherd University. At Shepherd, I had the opportunity to be in many productions, including Gilbert and Sullivan's Pirates of Penzance as Mabel, Little Women (the musical) as Amy, and Dido and Aeneas as Belinda. I was a Scholar in The Scholars of St. Cecelia, a choral ensemble in Cumberland specializing in Baroque music. 

In vocal music, I am especially drawn to French melodie, with its rich, complex harmonies and abstract yet expressive langauge. I also love English art song, because it can be so diverse. As a pianist, I enjoy accompaniment and simple solos, but I honestly don't play piano very much anymore. I am hoping to get into guitar soon!

I am excited to be working at Music & Arts, because I am learning about a lot of different instruments. I love being around music, and I am very glad to have the opportunity to work in a place where there's no shortage of music!
