About Rachel Hickey

I have been playing flute for over eighteen years, and saxophone for fifteen. I started teaching flute lessons to beginner students while I was still in high school, and that is when I fell in love with teaching and knew I wanted to turn my passion into my career. I studied at Berklee College of Music with the intention of getting a degree in both flute performance and music education. 

I did not graduate from Berklee, but I never stopped playing my instruments or teaching. Since I left Berklee, I have had students at various levels and helped them gain confidence in their musical abilities and prepare them for auditions into school, music competitions, or ensembles. I have also taught at summer band camps to help prepare the students for marching band season. I would specifically work with the woodwind department and lead the group in sectionals.
