Background
Tom’s musical journey started in the mid-sixties first with clarinet in a band followed later with
guitar. He continued with both through college, earning a performance degree at Rowan
University. Along the way, he gained experience in a large variety of styles, from orchestral to
rock to even Irish traditional. He can boast of being able to play over 20 instruments.
After performing and teaching full-time, as well as Ed Rep work, he chose to study band
instrument repair in the mid-eighties with Terry Dougherty. He went on to manage repair shops
for Regional Music, Russo Music, Sam Ash, and Zapf’s Music, continuing on-the-job tutoring with
Leonard Zapf and his son.
He joined Music & Arts in 2000, where he managed the Pennsauken shop until 2008 when he
was relocated to the Marlton, New Jersey shop. From there he continues to serve the greater
South Jersey market. Proficient and experienced in brass, woodwind, and percussion repair, he
takes great pride in his work and his customer service.
