It's getting colder. The whispers of shopping days and decorations are all around us. The time is nigh, the holiday season is here. Some people relish in the glory of peace on earth and spending time with family, while others woefully look ahead to the inevitable hustle and bustle that this time of year brings. No matter who you are or how you feel about this time of year there is one thing that we can agree on.... Holiday Music is awesome.
Music sets the tone for our emotion. It can be joyous, wonderous, and very nostalgic this time of year. It can be as simple as singing Christmas carols with your family on Christmas eve. It can be as amazing as seeing the Trans Siberian Orchestra playing a sold out show all around the world. I dont think there is anyone out there who has not looked in the mirror and sang Bing Crosby's "I'm dreaming of a White Christmas" a la home alone.
I find myself putting on jazzy takes of classic christmas tunes as I decorate my house for they year. While I fight with strands of tangled lights, and replacement bulbs the music keeps me tied to the true spirit of the season. So I challenge all of you this year to take a minute and apprecitate the feeling of the holidays and how much of that is impacted by the music you hear every year.
