About Alex Hames
Saxophonist, Clarinetist, Flutist, and Composer Alex Hames specializes in Jazz and Improvised music. His most prominent musical idols include Sonny Rollins, John Coltrane, Duke Ellington, and is well versed in the New Orleans Second-Line tradition. He also offers private lessons to aspiring young musicians, as well as more experienced players trying to hone in their craft. Since moving to Greensboro, Hames was the host of the local “Jazz Party”, as well as the Jam session at Tate Street Coffee House on Saturday Mornings. He has also played for the Winston-Salem Theater Alliance, the High Point Theater, Multiple UNCG-led Musicals, as well as many other theater venues across North Carolina. Hames recently graduated from UNCG, a school often described as “the Juilliard of the South”, where he took private lessons from Emily Loboda-Hitchcock, Chad Eby and Branford Marsalis.
