About Alexandra

B.M.E. in K-12 Instrumental Music from Lee University.  Studied with Christina Morton and Don Davis.  10 years performance experience.

Alexandra grew up in Virginia Beach and began her musical journey at age 5 with piano lessons from her mother.  She picked up the violin in 6th grade, and since then has not stopped adding musical instruments to her arsenal.  She spent many years in the Suzuki Strings of Hampton Roads and the Virginia Children’s Chorus.  Some of her favorite childhood memories include singing for President George W. Bush as part of Jamestown 1607-2007, touring Norfolk and London, England (twice!) with the VCC, and playing in jazz trios with her teachers.  In high school, she decided to combine her passions for music and for children as a music educator.  As a college student, she spent every spare moment teaching – private lessons, beginning strings classes, and elementary choir – and performing music corporately – Symphony Orchestra, Chamber Strings, Choral Union, and Percussion Ensemble.  Her favorite collegiate memories include accompanying talented soloists under the direction of Maestro Bob Bernhardt: from Mozart’s opera arias and concertos to the rock classics of The Beatles and Billy Joel.  In the 2014 Christmas season, she toured Japan with a chamber group called AdventNow! to provide the eastern nation with the music of the western Christian tradition.  Now she continues performing with Symphonicity, the symphony orchestra of Virginia Beach, and serves regularly on the worship team at her home church.  Her favorite composer is Tchaikovsky, and her favorite chamber piece is Schubert’s 13th string quartet.  In her spare time, she loves reading, writing songs and novels, and having ukulele jam sessions with her best friends
