In 2005, My teaching career began with my bicycle as transportation giving one-on-one music lessons in my neighborhood. I specialize in violin, beginner-intermediate piano, and music theory. I have now added 1st year viola and cello students.
I have enjoyed actively performing since 2006 playing solo, in pit orchestra, string quartets, with my jazz blues and bluegrass trio, jazz combo, and bluegrass, rock and original folk bands. I also held the position of concertmistress in the orchestra at College of DuPage and the Elmhurst College Philharmonic Orchestra.
Currently I am in the process of recording with my folk band the For Peace Trio. Jeremy Greer and I write and play original tunes. We enjoy harmonies and incorporate real every-day sounds and a variety of conventional and creative instruments.
Music is for everyone, regardless of whether the right or left side of the brain dominates. One of my goals as an educator is not only to teach the organization of music but also to unveil its freedom. I want each student's heart to appreciate the understanding, self-improvement, self-expression, and meaning they can experience through music. Music is found in every aspect of nature and is therefore relatable to all, attainable by all, and can connect us all like nothing else. Music is rich and deeply involved. Even if it is not your main area of focus, the exposure will strengthen the brain for other important and academic pursuits.
Becoming a performing artist is a fun incentive for our growing musicians! Students are encouraged to play at 2-4 recitals throughout the year and are given opportunities to perform monthly at our store's All Ages Open Mic, as well as other activities that present year round.
I look forward to giving you every musical tool I know to enrich your connection and experience.
