I believe each child is unique and that the teacher should endeavor to explain concepts in ways suited to each child. Music is an integral part of our lives and my hope is to increase my students' love and appreciation for music. I will use creative and out-of-the-box methods to help each student reach that "light bulb" moment.
I've been nurturing children for many years, as a nanny, a teacher's aide, and as a music teacher. I started teaching violin while in highschool and have continued to teach since graduating from college in 2014.
Currently, I am the first chair violinist in the Good News Baptist Church Orchestra. I look forward to our Christmas and Easter productions which feature choir, orchestra and drama. I remember being so excited to played with the Virginia Symphony Orchestra in their 2010 Community Play-Along with Akiko Fujimoto. We played Beethoven's 5th and it was an experience I'll never forget! I've been singing from a young age and joined the Children's Community Chorus for a season. Being involved in my church music ministry as given me opportunities to sing solos and in small groups as well as with the choir. The piano is my go-to instrument to unwind and relax. I would play for hours as a teenager. Music has always been a part of my life, I would love to make it part of yours!
