About Annalise
Annalise Stalls has 14 years of perforamnce experience. She holds a DownBeat Award for Best Jazz Arrangement of 2012 and a BM in Jazz Studies from UNC-G's acclaimed Miles Davis Jazz Studies Program, where she primarily studied with Steve Haines and Chad Eby. Annalise also studied saxophone with Dr. Timothy McAllister of the LA Philharmonic and Taimu Sullivan of PRISM Quartet and the University of North Carolina School of the Arts, where she earned her High School diploma with a Concentration in Saxophone Performance. Annalise began performing professionally in 2007. She now performs regularly with her orginial jazz group, Zen Poets and jazz fusion project, Camel City Collective. Annalise and the Zen Poets recently won the NCCU & Salett Arts Jazz Competition and have a new album, Music for Mounds, coming out soon!
Annalise offers a holistic perspective on teaching music, borrowing from her experience working in the Montessori environment and her study and practice of the Alexander Technique. She believes in cultivating a fertile environment for developing criticality and curiosity while sensitively guiding her students in discovering theirs voices through their instruments.
Annalise teaches saxophone to all performance levels, as well as clarinet and flute to beginners. She also offers lessons in music composition/arranging, theory, and improvisation.
