About Anne

Anne Sutton recently graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a Bachelor of Music degree. Some performance highlights include singing with the Opera Company of Middlebury as the 1st Spirit (The Magic Flute, Mozart), as well as with UNC Opera and University of Vermont Opera in roles including La Fée (Cendrillon, Massenet), Second Woman (Dido and Aeneas, Purcell), and Lucy (The Telephone, Menotti). Oratorio performances include singing Haydn’s Creation under the baton of Jane Glover (Dartington International Summer School), and appearing as the soprano soloist in Bach’s Magnificat (Chapel Hill Chamber Orchestra). She is currently a staff soprano at St. John’s Church in Lafayette Square.

Anne has always been passionate about teaching. Beginning in high school and continuing through college, Anne worked as a counselor and later staff member at the Very Merry Theater Company summer camps in her native Vermont. She enjoyed working with children in elementary and middle school to help teach singing and acting in musical theater shows. She has also worked with singers and other musicians in the role of stage director, both with OperaTerps at the University of Maryland, and at the Halifax Summer Opera Festival. Anne has greatly enjoyed teaching private lessons in the past, and is excited to continue doing so at Music and Arts!
