About Barry

Barry Seigel started playing the guitar at the age of nine and bass guitar at the age of twelve. He has acquired many musical influences from Glenn Miller to Jimi Hendirx, as well as anything Motown.

Barry has studied at Webster University, University of Missouri Saint Louis, and Berklee College of Music.

With over thirty years of teaching experience, Barry believes the most important part of teaching is sharing both the fundamentals of properly playing an instrument, as well as sharing performance and composition tips for both budding and advanced musicians.

Barry is currently an active member of a St. Louis Billy Joel Tribute project, and plays with Jem Express. Barry also performs with arious Jazz ensembles throughout St. Louis and on the road.

Writing and teaching have always been his primary interest as he still pursues them today, continuing to create melodic exercises for students and recording his own original material.

Barry recomends Mel Bay and Hal Leonard method books, and recomends students to use Fender and Ibanez basses.
