About Bates Holman - PERCUSSION
Bates Holman is an accomplished performer and educator with an exciting set of experiences he draws upon while teaching, spanning nearly twenty years.
As an educator, Bates has taught thousands of private lessons to students of all ages throughout the low country and the Carolinas. Bates has spent the better part of the last decade as an artist in residence in and working closely with countless public schools including Waccamaw High, Rock Hill High, Cane Bay High, Coastal Carolina University and The Leonard School of Music. Bates is currently gainfully employed through the Charleston County School District at East Cooper Montessori Charter School in Mount Pleasant where he teaches World, Popular, and General Music.
Bates maintains a rigorous performance schedule, performing most weekends with jazz, pop and tribute acts throughout the South East. In 2011, Bates played drums for 'Hooray for Hollywood,' a main stage eight-show a week show at The Palace Theater in Myrtle Beach. Put on by the international production company Spirit Productions, 'Hooray for Hollywood' has toured both nationally and internationally to critical acclaim. Bates has also performed as a part of the Earl Klugh Jazz Festival, Carolina Jazz Festival, for the Charleston Jazz Society and for Piccolo Spoleto.
Bates holds a Bachelors of Music performance with a concentration in percussion from Winthrop University and a SC teachers certificate.
