About Benjamin Crowder

After graduating from Teays Valley High School, Benjamin attended The Ohio State University and studied trombone methods under Joe Duchi (Columbus Symphony Orchestra) and Jim Masters (Columbus Jazz Orchestra). While at Ohio State, he served as a regular member and as the F-row head squad leader in the Ohio State Marching Band. Benjamin also participated in ensembles within the OSU School of Music, including the OSU Jazz Ensemble, Art Blakey Jazz Combo, the Symphone Band, and the classical and jazz trombone studios.

During his time at Ohio State, Benjamin studied jazz improvisation with Shawn Wallace (Director of Jazz Studies), local tenor saxophonist Bryan Oschesky and trumpeter Anthony Stanco. He regularly subs as trombonist in the likes of Vaughn Weister's Famous Jazz Orchestra and the Rick Brunetto Big Band, and is a member of several Columbus acts, performing a variety of genres  including salsa, pop/rock, blues and jazz.

Benjamin has a true passion for teacher and looks forward to working with students of all ages and levels of experience!
