About Charles Mishalany
Though I teach a comprehensive program ranging from learning reading skills through jazz improvisation, I custom tailor each lesson for the needs of each student. My students vary in age and level. Many young students often need instruction in reading for school orchestra, or just desire to play their favorite songs. More advanced students usually focus on improvisation, so they can create their own bass lines in their rock, pop, jazz or church groups.
With consistent lessons, some of my students have earned awards such as the Bass chair in the Southern California All Honors Jazz Band, or have gone on to gain artist development deals with large record companies like Atlantic. I've even been interviewed and hired by pop legend Rick Springfield to teach his niece bass guitar!
I've performed in many venues from clubs, large concerts, churches, private events, musical theater, movies and tv commercials, as well as touring.
Some artists I have performed with or opened for include Isaac Hayes, Sublime, Sugar Ray, and Rick Founds.
As the primary bass instructor in facilities such as the Orange County Music Academy and Draisen Edwards Music, I've honed my teaching craft, understand my student's needs, and am able to deliver quality musical education in an efficient and fun method.
I look forward to seeing you or your family member in my classroom.
