Areas of Instruction
Chelsea Murphy grew up outside of Boston, MA where her classical music journey began at the young age of 5. Studying with Ms. Carol Sykes, a pioneer of the Suzuki Method, Chelsea received a true Suzuki experience from the beginning. As a young teen, Chelsea went on to play with the Boston Youth Symphony, one of the world's premiere youth orchestras, with whom she played international tours and studied with BSO violinist, John Holland. Before attending college, Chelsea also participated in the Boston University Tanglewood Institute, summer home of the Boston Symphony and an intensive summer school for aspiring classical musicians with professionals such as Yo-Yo Ma and Joshua Bell. She then continued her studies at Boston University College of Fine Arts with award winning violinist, Dana Mazurkevich. Chelsea moved to Charleston in 2011 to complete her studies and received her degree in Violin Performance, studying with Yuriy Bekker. Today, she enjoys sharing the Suzuki method with students of all ages, drawing so much inspiration from her wonderful music teachers, working as a librarian with the Charleston Symphony and loves playing music around the Southeastern US.
