About Claudia

My love for the piano started when I was nine years old after attending my first orchestra and piano concert at the Fine Arts Palace in Mexico City. I was mesmerized by the “flying fingers” of the soloist pianist and the expressive beauty of his sound. Yet, it wasn’t until I was eleven years old, after convincing my parents for almost two years to switch me from ballet and flamenco lessons to piano lessons that my music journey began. For that year and until I turned thirteen I participated in a percussion and vocal ensemble as well as learning piano in a private music academy, giving me this the opportunity to have my first public soloist appearances and ensemble experience collaborating with other instrumentalists.
Eventually, I was admitted to the National Music Conservatory and the National School of Music, being the second institution, where I accomplished my first formal music training and curriculum under the guidance of prestigious piano teachers such as Eva del Carmen Medina Amezcua and Dr. Jesus Maria Figueroa Santacruz. Shortly after graduating from high school and preparatory music studies in Mexico City, where I was born and raised, I got admitted with a scholarship to the Music Program at Brigham Young University (BYU) in Provo, UT.
At BYU I earned my bachelor’s degree in piano performance having as my teachers Marlene Bachelder and Dr. Jeffrey Shumway in piano and Dr. Irene Peery-Fox and Dr. Richard Anderson in piano pedagogy.  A year later I moved to Las Vegas and started my master’s degree in Piano Performance at University of Nevada Las Vegas (UNLV) under the instruction and mentorship of the international acclaimed pianist Dr. Enrico Elisi.
Throughout my education in music, I have accrued a wide experience in both: teaching piano to all levels, backgrounds, and ages, as well as a soloist, accompanist, and ensemble performer career.
My teaching philosophy is to make classical and piano music accessible to anyone that has an interest on learning, appreciating or better their skills. Whether you aspire to become a professional musician, improve your current skill set or are just starting your journey, with my guidance and coaching- I am passionate to help you achieve your musical goals create habits, discipline, and a love for the universal language of music through the piano.
See you in class!
