About Collin

A graduate of the University of Delaware and Towson University, Collin has performed extensively in the tri-state area in university and extra-curricular ensembles for the better part of a decade. After playing clarinet/bass clarinet and saxophone throughout gradeschool, he finally discovered his talent by switching to double reeds just before beginning his undergraduate studies. There, Collin quickly made up for lost time on the instrument, winning Towson's 2013 Talent Competition and immersing himself in challenging, hallmark orchestral repertoire, such as Rimsky-Korsakov's Scheherazade and Mahler's Symphony No. 2 "Resurrection".

In his graduate studies, Collin won the University of Delaware's 2017 Concerto Competition, performing the Hummel bassoon concerto, widely regarded as one of the most difficult pieces in solo bassoon repertoire. He has performed in myriad master classes with artists such as Tom Reynolds (formerly of the US Coast Guard Band), Dr. Matthew Morris (bassoon professor at Ohio University), John Miller (of the Bubonic Bassoon Quartet), and Dr. George Sakakeeny (bassoon professor at the Eastman School of Music). Collin was also a finalist in the York Symphony Orchestra bassoon auditions in April 2018.
