About Me

Corey has been involved with music making for much of his life.  After playing clarinet in grade school, he found his primary instrument, the bassoon.  In college, he spent time studying composition and performing with various ensemebles including a steel drum band and an amorphous ensemble in which he experimented with the electric bassoon - amplyfing his acoustic bassoon utilizing various electronic effects.  Following a brief dalliance in graduate studies in musicology, Corey has developed a deep interest in ethnomusicology.  While pursuing a Post Baccalaureate Certificate in that subject at University of North Carolina at Greensboro, he has take up the Sitar, studying under Gaurang Doshi of the Maihar Gharana, and has started learning Old-Time or Claw-Hammer style Banjo playing. When not Musicking or working, Corey enjoys spending time with his girlfriend, Teah, and their two cats, Ingrid and Clara.
