About Daniel Hursey

I am excited to talk about lesson here at Music and Arts! I am super excited you are interested in taking lessons with me. I teach several unique instruments such as Bassoon, oboe, clarinet and saxophone. Please read a little about me below and hope to see you in the studio.
 
Bassoonist Daniel Hursey began bassoon at the age of 12, later studying with Michelle Simmons of the Jacksonville Symphony Orchestra. A scholarship recipient, he received his Bachelor's of Music in Bassoon Performance from the Florida State University College of Music.
 
Mr. Hursey has performed with the Tucson Symphony, Sinfonia Gulf Coast, Northwest Florida Orchestra, the Orlando Philharmonic, and Valdosta Symphony. Beginning in 2006, Mr. Hursey was the second bassoonist with the Tallahassee Symphony for three years and performed regularly around the area. An internationally recognized musician, Daniel Hursey has been heard performing with the Orquestra Sinfónica de Monterrey in Monterrey, Mexico. In the summer of 2010, Daniel performed with the Lake Tahoe Music Festival.
 
Mr. Hursey has recently completed his Master's of Music in Bassoon Performance from the University of Arizona where he was a teaching assistant and scholarship recipient and is currently pursuing his Doctorate degree. He has performed in master classes with Monica Ellis of the Imani Winds and Whitney Crockett, principal bassoonist of the Metropolitan Opera. Mr. Hursey has also received orchestral instruction from members of the Jacksonville Symphony and the London Symphony Orchestra.
 
He has studied bassoon with Ryan Simmons, Jeff Keesecker, and William Dietz.
