About Lewis Krauthamer

Lewis Krauthamer was born in New York but grew up in Wheaton, Maryland. After
completing his undergraduate studies in composition at the New England
Conservatory and the Longy School of Music, he left for France, where he
obtained a Master's Degree in musicology from the Université Jean Monnet
Saint-Étienne.

Lewis' energies have always been focused on his work as a
composer. His music has been performed by many soloists, chamber groups and
orchestras. Lewis has received numerous awards and grants as a composer, most
recently from the Foundation for Contemporary Arts and Meet the Composer (New
Music USA).

Lewis is an Adjunct Professor of Music at the
University of the District of Columbia, where he teaches courses in music theory
and music history. He has been with Music and Arts now for five years, where he
teaches Wednesdays and Fridays. Lewis works hard to accommodate his lesson plan
to students of all ages and levels.
