Darvin Lavon Harvey is a native of North Augusta, SC. He has been an avid player of the euphonium, trombone, trumpet, tuba and horn for over 20 years. He has been studying classical voice for 13 yrs. He received his education at South Carolina State University where he received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Instrumental Music Performance in 2006. He furthered his educational endeavors by attending the University of North Carolina-Greensboro where he received a Master of Music in Instrumental Performance in 2008. He is a member of the following service organizations: Kappa Kappa Psi National Honorary Band Fraternity, Pi Kappa Lamda Music Honor Society, and Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia of America, and SC Music Educators Association. He is formerly a member of the following community organizations: The Augusta Chorale where he served on the executive board as the secretary and tenor/bass section leader, the Augusta Choral Society where he serves as a member of the chorus council and tenor section leader, a founding member of the Augusta Men’s Chorus where he serves as Secretary/Treasurer, former member of the Charleston Gospel Choir and Spiritual Ensemble. He is currently employed by the Charleston County School District where he is the Fine Arts Coordinator/Band Director at Garrett Academy of Technology in North Charleston.
