At my 8th birthday party, I received the gift that influenced the rest of my life. It was a Concertina Accordion. I tried to make it play musical sounds. I was intrigued with the sounds it made. This led to my parents allowing me the opportunity to study with a private accordion teacher. This was the first step towards a life of music performance and sharing the love music through teaching.
The next few years were spent perfecting my skills – winning competitions and scholarships. I broadened these skills by learning to play 9 different instruments including Piano – Electronic Keyboards – Woodwinds and Brass. I was accepted in the highly acclaimed New York University undergraduate music education program where I became 1st chair oboist in the orchestra.
As I was developing my abilities as a music educator, I also followed my dream of becoming a professional musician. I worked as an orchestra leader in New York City and resort areas of the tri-state region of the East coast for many years. I also continued perfecting my professional music career which included being a professional entertaining musician, musical arranger, and musical accompanist entertaining at hundreds of functions.
After my university graduation, I became a licensed NYC Music Teacher on the Elementary and Secondary levels while raising a family. In 1990 our family moved to Nevada where I continued my love of teaching and performing music.
