About Me

Donna's performance history is varied.  She has played with the Quakertown Citizens Band and the Red Hill Concert Band.  She toured with the Leading Ladies in Canada as well as the Bell Star Show throughout the western United States.  She played lead trumpet for the Ambler Symphony for approximately five years, and afterwards began working with musical theater groups such as the Drama Keys, Harriton Senior High School productions, Guys and Dolls with Dutch Country Playhouse. She has also played with the Philadelphia Natural Trumpet ensemble, Main Street Big Band for fifteen years, Mirandola Trumpets, Veterans Association of Military Musicians with both the Concert and Jazz bands.  She currently plays with the Montgomery County Community College Jazz Performance band.

As a teacher of over fourty years and free lance trumpet player, she stresses scales and theory to students, using the Rubank method with most of her students.  She accompanies Rubank with playalong materials.  She caters to students of all different interests and learning styles and emphasizes learning to improvise with chord changes in a jazz style.

She has studied jazz with some of Philadelphia's greatest Jazz musicians--like Denis Sandolie and Larry McKenna.  Donna is currently performing with the Montgomery County jazz band and is up to date on what the young musicians are performing in Central Bucks, New Hope, Pennridge, Palisades and Council Rock School Districts.  She currently has students from Central Bucks East and South jazz bands but have taught students from Central Bucks West and Pennridge in the past.  She encourages musical diversity in her curriculum, so many of her students compete in district competitions or play in local marching bands.
