About Donna Lou
I began studying the piano at the age of four at Yamaha Music School. Then, continued with weekly private lessons and classes through the Janell Whitby School of Music. I began performing and accompanying at an early age through opportunities at church and school. I was a member of a young, gifted, performer’s club, The Hyechka Club. I graduated from the Guild Music program. I attended Baptist Bible College as a performance major then received my teacher’s certification through the National Music Teachers Association. My philosophy of teaching has always been to present piano and voice lessons in a fun, compassionate way to anyone desiring to learn. I have a passion for teaching students with autism and students with mental challenges. I accept students as early as four, and some occasions have taken three year olds. Several of my students have made it into Thomas G Pullen Performing Arts School and Duke Ellington School of the Arts. I’ve also had students make it on American Idol and The Sing Off.
