Dylan James, originally from Mullica Hill, NJ, is a clarinetist based in New York City. Dylan has performed in orchestras in venues including Lincoln Center Alice Tully Hall, New World Center, Kimmel Center Perelman Theater, and Kennedy Center Concert Hall, among others. He has studied clarinet with Charles Neidich and Rié Suzuki as a student at Mannes School of Music and Rowan University, respectively. He has participated in festivals including Miami Summer Music Festival, National Music Festival, and National Symphony Orchestra Summer Music Institute. As a soloist, Dylan has performed with the Rowan University Wind Ensemble, Rowan University Orchestra, Philharmonic of Southern New Jersey, and Northern Lights Festival Orchestra. He is a past winner of the Clifton Foundation Emerging Artist Award and Presser Foundation Undergraduate Scholar Award. Dylan believes in focusing on technique and fundamentals and establishing a strong foundation in music theory with the goal of training independent musicians. Dylan encourages and prepares his students to take auditions for youth orchestras, honors ensembles, and competitions to help them become well-rounded and experienced musicians.
