About Edward Bender
Edward graduated from The University of North Carolina at Charlotte in 2014. Edward has a Bachelor’s of Music in Music Education with a concentration in percussion. During his time at UNCC Edward studied percussion under the direction of Rick Dior, the principle percussionist of the Charlotte Symphony Orchestra. Throughout college, Edward played in various musical groups including Percussion Ensemble, Wind Ensemble, Symphony Orchestra, and side bands performing in charlotte. Edward believes if you are going to teach you should also perform. While performing, he taught private percussion lessons and instructed multiple high school drum-lines.
After graduation, Edward expanded his performing and teaching. He started playing on stage with Elevation Worship in 2014. Elevation Worship received two Grammy nominations for best Worship Album and Best Worship Song. He began playing percussion for two bands Twenty-three over four and Water from Fire. Both groups play in Charlotte and travel on tour, to support wounded warriors and veterans. In 2014, Edward became the General Music Teacher at Briarwood Academy. As a Charlotte Mecklenburg music teacher, Edward instructs students from kindergarten to fifth grade. He is responsible for individual and group instruction along with designing and implementing school wide concerts.
Edward Bender loves music and wants to give everyone including you the opportunity to love it too.
