About Edwin

Edwin Rivera began playing piano at 8 years old. More than 20 years later, he has studied flute, saxophone, and voice with various teachers throughout high school and college. He has studied flute with renowned instructor Nancy Clew, classical piano with the Jacksonville Symphony Orchestra's principle pianist Iliana Fernandez, jazz piano with UNF's head of Jazz Studies John Ricci, and has taught music to over 100 students for over 10 years. Edwin focuses heavily on music theory and fun repertoire, molding each lesson to the student and his or her needs.

Edwin also enjoys performing regularly with his Jacksonville-based bands Fun Sick Phony and The Rub. Edwin's philosophy in teaching music is simply that everyone can learn to play an instrument, but only with hard work and dedication can they become a musician
