Areas of Instruction
Lizzy's love and passion for music radiates in every performance she gives. Her programs are varied and often feature lesser-known works, with a particular focus on showcasing the works of women composers. Yoga and the Pilates method have profoundly influenced her life, and much of her teaching around the alignment and use of the body reflects her continued commitment to physical wellness. The history of the flute and flute pedagogy has been a subject of fascination for Lizzy throughout her collegiate study of music - particularly the development of the French flute school in the 18th and 19th centuries. Her extensive performance experience includes orchestral and wind band playing, musical theater, solo performance, chamber music, and contemporary and avant-garde music. She also loves traveling, learning languages, reading, hiking, animals, great food, and dancing. Lizzy currently teaches several wonderful private students in Fort Collins and regularly performs with the Loveland Orchestra. She holds a Graduate Performance Certificate and Master of Music degree from the University of Northern Colorado and a Bachelor of Music from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Her principal teachers have been James Hall, Brook Ferguson, Stephanie Jutt, Liz Marshall, and Amy Morris. Lizzy plays a Lillian Burkart 9k G/S Professional flute with a Lillian Burkart platinum tube 14k embouchure headjoint.
