Piano, and Trumpet
Also classically trained as a pianist with an applied science degree in music and business. I provide professional music tutoring services - primarily piano and theory college preparatory, as well as custom performance assignments such as accompaniment and private events like school solo and ensemble, concerts, UIL, weddings, luncheons, etc.
I typically require that my piano students have a piano or digital piano/keyboard with the weighted hammer action and at least 76 keys. Anything less is insufficient for developing the strength, technique, and repertoire required to be a successful piano player. Theory students - private or group - do not need to have a piano, but some sort of keyboard may certainly facilitate the process.
I concentrate on teaching mastery of the instrument, which includes exercises and repertoire designed to develop strength and control. Music theory and pattern study is richly integrated to ensure strong improvisational and sight-reading skills.
Although my instruction can be rigorous, my training and experience in early childhood education ensures fun and engaging lessons for the youngest beginners through the oldest. Relevant academic content is often integrated to activate prior learning, cement new concepts, and bolster academic achievement for school-aged students.
I am equally qualified to address the needs of those wanting to pursue formal musicianship training, either in preparation for a college tract or advancing current skills to a performance and/or teaching level.
