About Grace Politowicz
With a B.A. in Music, summa cum laude, along with four certifications in Early Childhood Music Education, Grace loves to work with beginning students of all ages and encourage them as they progress through the intermediate stage to become advanced musicians. Additionally, from the littlest learners to adults, Grace strives to tailor her students’ studies to their particular interests and utilize varied resources to insure diverse styles and techniques are explored, all along the way.
Grace began her own formal musical education with piano instruction under the tutelage of April Camden Burkhart and expanded her keyboard studies at Aurora University with Dr. Cristian Pastorello (piano) and Dr. Naomi Rowley (pipe organ). Now, as a pianist/pipe organist with 12 years of experience, Grace enjoys teaching all keyboards studies, whether students choose to pursue piano as soloists or learn the art of accompaniment, as she has knowledge to share within both disciplines.
Additionally, Grace is a classically trained voice instructor with a music degree concentration in Vocal Performance. Initially, Grace studied voice with Jennifer Helwig, but soon after Grace became a private student of Michelle Areyzaga. Grace also studied vocal pedagogy and earned many advanced training certifications in Choral Conducting. As a result, Grace prioritizes healthy singing techniques to protect growing voices and develop good habits while helping students to learn both solo and choral sound production skills.
When not teaching students privately, you may have seen Grace performing as a vocal concerto soloist, entertaining as a member of several community singing groups in the area, or conducting as the general music teacher and choir director for grades K-8 at a local Christian school. Grace has also enjoyed serving as a church musician as well as studying opera, jazz, flute, piccolo, djembe hand drumming, rhythm instruments, handbells, tone chimes, and musical pedagogy.
Grace’s rich and widely varied musical background gives her a broad base from which to reference as she guides her students, and it allows her the ability to relate to music lovers of many different backgrounds. Grace hopes to inspire not only an understanding of musical styles and techniques, but also a true love of the discovery process that brings musicality to its full development in each and every student. Please call for a lesson and begin to explore the world of music with Grace, today!
