"If you want to learn to swim, jump into the water. On dry land no frame of mind is ever going to help you." -Bruce Lee
Grant hails from the fabulous Lake Of The Ozarks, and has had music around him all his life. His journey as a musician truly began as a pre teen when he found his sister's acoustic guitar in the closet and taught himself a few chords using the book he found in the case. A few hundred strums and a thumb blister later, he was hooked! Immediately, he began studying the craft of songwriting, eventually working up his chops in the styles of jazz, rock, metal, flamenco, and acoustic fingerpicking. He studied at Missouri State University and the Musician's Institute in Hollywood, CA.
His second instrument is the clarinet, and his impressive resume includes leading his section in the Pride Of The Lake band in Camdenton, the Pride Band at Missouri State, and an appearance at the Rose Bowl Parade in Anaheim, California.
After working for several different companies across the state of Missouri, Grant brings his passion for connecting aspiring young musicians to the tools they need to our St. Peters Music and Arts location. As a continuing student, he'll argue the value of a solid education background to anyone, and his product knowledge makes him a great guy to know!
Not only does he fit in well as a neighborhood manager, he also performs out regularly in a variety of venues. His solo project Bright White Hide took him on a tour through the Southeast in 2014, and he is the principle composer for a revolving group of talented rock musicians called The Glass Cavalry. Grant also performs by himself as a solo entertainer, singing and playing his Ibanez acoustic for restauraunts, wineries, and beer gardens all around St. Louis. If you like to dance, go check out his dance cover band Party McFly!
Frequenters of the St. Louis music scene might recognize Grant's name from Eleven Magazine, where he wrote articles about the area's musical atmosphere. From reviews of local festivals to reports on nearby scenes like Rolla and Columbia, Grant has covered it all.
So whether you need advice on how to copywrite your original music, how to select the right kind of pickups for your stratocaster, how to start a band, or how to throw a mean yoyo, Grant can help you out!
