About Hannah

Hannah Spear is a violinist raised in Charlotte, and is currently based in the NC Triad Area. She received her Bachelor's Degree in Violin Performance from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, where she studied with Marjorie Bagley. Hannah began her violin studies at the age of eight, and her past teachers include Dr. Ernest Pereira and Dr. Catharine Jackson. At UNCG, Hannah performed multiple times as soloist with the Sinfonia, and served as Principal Second and Co-Concertmaster in the University Symphony Orchestra. Hannah has participated in festivals including Charles Castleman’s Quartet Program, Brevard Music Center, Round Top Festival Institute and most recently, the National Repertory Orchestra. She has worked with a number of renowned teachers and performers including Pinchas Zuckerman and The Juilliard Quartet.

Hannah currently performs with the Greensboro Symphony, the Greensboro Opera, and the Gate City Camerata, and several other ensembles around the state. In her free time, she enjoys exploring beautiful places, biking, cooking, and reading chamber music with friends.

In teaching, Hannah has retained the ideal from her Suzuki upbringing that “every child can.”  She is deeply invested in each student’s success, and believes in creating a nurturing, yet stimulating environment tailored to the learning style and pace of the individual. She will encourage consistent care and effort on the part of the student, while maintaining big picture goals: to create something beautiful and have FUN!
