About Heidi Macaluso
Heidi graduated from Shepherd University in 2018 where she studied under Dr. Yu-Hsuan Liao and received a B.A. in Piano Pedagogy. She has been teaching privately since 2016, and she also teaches piano through Shepherd University’s Community Music Program and at Cumberland Valley School of Music. She has experience teaching students from the age of 3 through adulthood, from beginners to advanced levels of proficiency. While studying piano with Heidi, students will learn note-reading, technique, and music theory, good practice techniques, and musicality. Along with all of these important skills, it is her goal to help her students cultivate a love and enjoyment of playing piano and for creating music. She teaches her students a variety of different musical styles, including classical, jazz, and popular music. She believes it is important that each individual student have the opportunity to play different styles of music that interest them, and those styles which they enjoy playing. Heidi is a member of the Music Teachers National Association (MTNA), and she has had the opportunity to attend the 2019 and 2020 Piano Pedagogy Symposiums with the MTNA in Virginia and Indiana. She has had experience performing for various musical productions and music camps, and she is currently the accompanist/organist for St. Luke’s United Methodist Church in West Virginia.
