Trumpet, Trombone, Tuba, Baritone, French Horn
Jim Cossetti began his study of trumpet and music theory in Philadelphia with Mr. Anthony Marchione in 1959. He has taught brass for over 55 years and has been instrumental in producing award winning ensembles, as well as fine individual musicians in the USA. He is also recognized as a performance innovator both here and abroad.
His focus is mainly jazz, however he teaches all elements of brass musicianship based on the needs or wants of the student. He also believes that music should be fun.
Jim is a long time member of the International Trumpet Guild, a member of the World Drum & Bugle Corps Hall of Fame, a member of the Bugler’s Hall of Fame inducted in the same class as famed jazz trumpet Clark Terry, and a founder and Trustee of the Pennsylvania Bugle & Drum Corps Hall of Fame. Aside from many local musicians and groups, he’s performed with Doc Severinsen and The Kennett Symphony.
Currently he’s director of “The Project” Big Band, which has performed at many local venues. He is a respected music adjudicator with the Cavalcade of Bands Association for whom he judges marching bands, indoor performers and jazz bands.
Jim has also performed on NBC’s The 10 Show as trumpet with Matt Santry, Jon Grecia and The Phil-E Street Band, which performed live on WXPN’s World Café Live.
