About Jasmine

Jasmine Harris is a graduate of Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) with a Bachelor of Music in viola performance, and a minor in Environmental Studies. Jasmine aspires to be a professional orchestral musician upon finishing her studies, and is eager for any opportunity to grow musically. Born and raised in Virginia Beach, VA, Jasmine was introduced to viola in fifth grade. In high school, she attended The Governor’s School for the Arts, where she was given the opportunity to take part in chamber music, symphonic repertoire, and was given exposure to the professional music world. Throughout her music career, she has attended Eastern Music Festival, Hot Springs Music Festival, and Music Academy International in Trentino, Italy. This past year, she has taken part in the Color of Music Festival, a black classical musician’s festival, and has been a part of the orchestras in Columbia, SC in September, and Nashville, TN, in November 2019. For Busch Gardens Christmas town 2019, she joins the entertainment department as a violist in one of the productions Gloria. She has played at churches, weddings, and events, including SPARC Live Art in the summer of 2019. Jasmine believes that the arts, and specifically music, are not only gifts, but tools that we can use to break down barriers and to enhance lives.
