About Jason Gregory
Over the past 25 years I have enjoyed teaching, playing, and composing music with students of all ages and backgrounds. Whether it is on violin, viola, cello, or piano, I aim, together with the student, to make music that satisfies. Although I was born and raised in Virginia Beach, I studied music in the Midwest. I hold a Bachelor of Music degree in composition from Northern Illinois University, and a Master of Arts degree in composition from The University of Iowa. At Iowa, I began as a teaching assistant in music theory, and was later awarded research assistant in music composition. At NIU, I had a rich experience studying with members of the Vermeer Quartet. Along with teaching private lessons, I also teach Music Theory at the Governor’s School of the Arts in Norfolk, VA. My wife, two sons, and I call Virginia Beach home.
