Mr. Joel Naegele is completing his 17th year in music education. He currently serves as the band and orchestra director at Falcon Bluffs Middle School in Littleton, Colorado. Prior to his move back to Colorado he served as Director of Bands at Grants Pass High School in Grants Pass, Oregon where he taught jazz, concert, symphonic and marching bands as well as the wind ensemble. From 2006-2013 he served as Director of Bands and Performing Arts Department Chair at Rock Canyon High School in Highlands Ranch, Colorado.
Mr. Naegele earned his Bachelor of Music Education from Kansas State University and Master of Music Education from the University of Missouri- Kansas City, Conservatory of Music. At UMKC Mr. Naegele was a graduate teaching assistant for the wind ensemble and director of the basketball pep bands. Mr. Naegele has taught in Kansas, Oklahoma, Oregon, and Colorado. His performing groups have consistently earned Superior and Excellent ratings in area festivals/competitions. Several professional highlights include traveling to Europe as part of the 60th Anniversary of the D-Day invasion, Chicago, IL, San Antonio, TX, San Diego, CA, Honolulu, HI, Washington, D.C., and leading the Disneyland Main Street Parade in 2010.
Being a musician is a "life-long" skill and my goal is to have students become better at reading music and developing overall musical skill. Having a strong foundation, the willingness to practice (putting in extra time), and the desire to improve on your instrument will serve you well now, and in the future.
