Areas of Instruction
Guitar, Bass Guitar, Music Theory
I teach both acoustic and electric guitar, and offer lessons exploring an eclectic range of musical styles and playing methods. Students working with me learn solid playing skills adaptable to pop, rock, blues, jazz, country, classical, and traditional styles. My career background as music faculty at diverse universities, and advanced credentials as a Ph.D. in music theory, means that students gain a strong foundation in music fundamentals and harmony, reading musical notation, aural skills, and form depending on interest and ambition. Likewise, students will learn how to bridge informal, improvisational approaches to music-making with more formal techniques in order to develop a well-rounded perspective of musical craft and personal expression. With my guidance, students always have the freedom to focus on one or many different styles, delve into any aspect of playing and theory; and most importantly, explore their passion for musical expression to the fullest extent. Music is the language of emotions, a gift to be cherished, cultivated, and shared. I look forward to meeting you, and mentoring your musical journey!
