Areas of Instruction
Hi! My name is Jay Rexroth and I have been teaching music lessons for about 12 years. I grew up on a small-town farm in Auburn, Indiana and my parents had eight children. My four older siblings and three younger siblings all started playing violin and piano at a young age and I began receiving lessons on the violin at the age of four and piano at age six. By the time I was ten, my family was performing shows for churches and a variety of community/political events throughout Indiana, Michigan, and Ohio. During these years, I picked up some different instruments such as the accordion, ukulele, harmonica, guitar, and bass. I was 15 when my family stopped performing due to older siblings leaving home for college, and I began teaching violin, piano, and guitar lessons. When I turned eighteen, I moved to Santa Cruz, California and began teaching music lessons in San Francisco. Then, at the age of twenty-two, I returned to Indiana in order to attend nursing school. I spent four years teaching lessons while completing school and then again moved west to Renton, Washington, where I currently reside.
