About Joseph Henderson
Joseph Henderson began violin lessons at the age of eight. He is an alumnus of LaVilla and Douglas Anderson Schools of the Arts. He has participated in the Florida All-State Orchestra (2006, ’08, & ’09) and in 2010, he attended Cannon Music Camp at Appalachian State University, where he studied with Dr. Nancy Bargerstock. The following summer, Joseph also participated in Friday Musicale’s chamber music festival. In 2012, he worked as an intern at the Amelia Island Chamber Music Festival. The same year he was a winner of the University of North Florida’s Concerto Competition, and was a soloist with the orchestra. Joseph is currently a senior at UNF where he is concert master of the orchestra. His musical awards include the Elizabeth Larsen scholarship and the Deer Meadows Baptist Church scholarship. Joseph has played in master classes for Charles Castleman, Sphinx Virtuosi, Hans Jorgen Jensen, the Ying Quartet, the Tokyo Quartet, the Vega Quartet, and more. He currently studies with Dr. Simon Shiao; prior teachers include Jeanne Majors, Ruxandra Marquadt, and Melissa Barrett of the Jacksonville Symphony Orchestra.
