About Judith Morehouse
Judith Morehouse trained in piano, voice, violin, and viola for twenty years. She earned both a Bachelor of Science in Music Education and Master's of Music Performance and is most well known among her contemporaries for her well rounded, scientific approach to the vocal mechanism.
She is noted for her insightful interpretations of multiple genres. Most recently, Miss Morehouse wowed audiences in Japan with a sacred concert series of works by Bach, Handel, and new Japanese composer, Masahiro Sato.
At age six, Miss Morehouse began to teach herself to play the piano. She recieved formal instruction beginning at age eight. Her passion for the discipline was fired so hot that she chose to pursue the artform in all walks of her life.
At the age of twelve, Judith realized she was truly in love with music and singing when she caught a clip of Menotti’s “Old Maid and the Thief” on television. Ever since that moment, she worked hard to learn and understand the principles of music as an art form and as a technical discipline.
Upon entry into university, Miss Morehouse studied the composers of the twentieth century and fell in love all over again. She has sung in Bernstein’s Mass; Menotti’s “Old Maid and the Thief”, “Amahl and the Night Visitors”, and “The Medium”, and has also debuted works by her contemporaries.
Not one to limit herself to her favorite genre, Miss Morehouse performs operas, oratorios, and musical theater. She is a dynamic Queen of the Night, and has had roles in Il Trovatore, La Boheme, and Faust. She also prepared and performed oratorios such as St. John Passion, St. Matthew Passion, The Messiah, The Creation, and Elijah. Her musical experience includes roles in Fiddler on the Roof, Bye Bye Birdie, and Brigadoon.
Apart from her vocal accomplishments, Judith performed piano works by George Crumb, Chopin, Lizst, Bach, Beethoven, Schumann, Schubert, and many others. She is an adroit jazz pianist and avid in applying classical techniques in that genre and contemporary music.
She has played the violin and viola for many years and sat first chair in her college symphony.
