My musical influences are so broad and extensive I wouldn't know where to begin
Rock, Classical, Jazz, Funk, Country, Latin (Hand and misc. Percussion), Hip Hop, Electronic
Teaching experience includes:
-Eight years of private and group instruction (Rock, Jazz, Classical, Latin, Country, Funk, Hip-Hop/Electronic)
-Experience teaching ages seven to adults
-Experience with autism/special needs students
I teach PRACTICALITY and MUSIC! While I do feel that learning music theory and traditional techniques for any instrument is important, I feel that there is often a disconnect from private instruction where students aren't shown how to play within a musical/group context ESPECIALLY in a modern musical context. I speak from personal experience as well as my students telling me that performing and playing with others has been the most cathartic and rewarding experience of their life. My student's learn the usually "boring" music theory and techniques in a practical and fun way which usually entails learning through their favorite songs.*
My performance experience includes playing in prestigious venues such as The Musical Instrument Museum, Orpheum Theater, Mesa/Tempe/Chandler Center for the Arts, as well as hundreds of clubs/bars that cater to more "informal" musical acts such as The Marquee Theater, Crescent Ballroom, and Valley Bar. Moreover, I have played many private wedding, birthday, and political gatherings.
